but there is a considerable loss in quality when the image is digitized. Then it looks like this...

So, we boost the contrast and add back some blue to bring out the ion tale and it looks like this

And this was done to all of the photos that you saw of the comet on the previous page. This kind of stuff isn't done for the moon since its really not needed.
