John and Max in Warsaw

When people heard that I was getting the Zeldovitch medal everyone wanted to know, "Can you really wear this thing?" Sadly, the medal does not come with a pin on the back (and its really too heavy to be worn this way) or with a ribbon, or even a place to attach one, so wearing it at those White House dinners seemed to be out of the question. But then, while at a party at Andrew Pohorille's house in Warsaw, John Rummel (at left) and I disovered a whole new way to wear the medal. I found that if I licked the back and pressed it really really hard to my head it stuck, and this photo is the proof. Perhaps you are not familiar with Zeldovitch for whom the medal is named.
